En yute / On jute

Pequeños experimentos en yute. Quedaron bien, pero no es una fibra práctica para hacer batik. La trama está muy abierta y es necesario un fondo blanco para apreciar las formas y colores. Además, es muy gruesa, absorbe mucha cera y es, por lo tanto, una lata para planchar. Está bien para formatos pequeñitos, pero uno grande, ni hablar, ya lo intenté y está por ahí arrumbado y empolvado un enorme batik al que no se le acaba de quitar la cera.
Sin embargo la textura es única y muy particular.

Small experiments on jute. I like them, but jute is not the best for batik. The weft is too open and a white background is needed to appreciate the design and the color. Besides it is so thick that it absorbs a lot of wax and the ironing takes even more time. I like it on small sizes. I did a big one and didn’t’ like it because I got tired of ironing it. I still have it somewhere, still with lots of wax on it.
